More self loving.......less self loathing

Loving yourself is powerful.


I started my journey in self love and self development around 18 months ago and quickly realised that it is not a destination but an every day practice which I will continue to work on for the rest of my life.


I don't believe that self love is about indulgence or making yourself feel better just in that moment, or about being vain or selfish, I believe it is a life long practice of treating yourself with compassion and kindness and listening to what your body needs physically, emotionally and mentally. It's taking care of yourself and taking time to recharge and actually do things that make you happy and bring you joy.


In all honesty without my little daily self love rituals I am not sure I would have made it out of last year in one piece! It was an incredible first full year of Luna being open, we started to grow so quickly, I was most defiantly stressed and overwhelmed for a lot of the year but I managed to keep myself sain.....ish! And will continue to deepen my self love practice to ensure I am being the absolute best possible version of me.


Its so easy to get bogged down with day to day life let alone when we then have big life events thrown into the mix! It's no wonder that we feel stressed, anxious, overwhelmed at the bottom of the pile and feel like we aren't being good enough. I speak to so many women day to day at Luna and it is a huge problem for many. How can we possibly be the best version of ourselves if we aren't taking time to recharge and fill our own cups up.


Well no more! I think 2020 should be the year that we all finally start more self loving and less self loathing .


Here are my 3 favourite self love practices


1. Feed your mind

Spend time every day to read, listen or watch material that uplifts and inspires you. Something that helps you understand yourself more and helps you live a better life. I absolutely love listening to podcasts or audio books while I am getting ready in the mornings, it fires me up for the day ahead.


2. Meditation

Start with ten minutes a day, I love the headspace app, youtube is also great. My best advice for this is to try and make it a daily practice so it becomes part of your routine, and don't worry everyone thinks they are doing it wrong at the start as you keep having lots of thoughts run thought your mind, but there really is no right and wrong. The more you do it the easier it becomes. The health benefits are huge, for me meditation has been an absolute game changer.


3. Positive affirmations

I like to write down 3 positive affirmations a day. They can be whatever you like and can help you overcome self sabotaging and negative thoughts. When you repeat them often and start to believe them you really can make positive changes.

One of my favourites which I write down every day is "I am enough" so simple but so effective.
